I bought a gateway solo 9500 laptop computer with missing harddrive and
missing restore disk 1. Installed new harddrive and xp home edition
operating system. When I turn the the computer on I get the gateway
logo but thats it. Msg states no operating system. However when I put
the restore disk 2 in and reboot I have to hit Install windows. Once I
get started I get msg error code 2405 invalid drive number specified.
I hit ok and windows xp loads. Why can't I get pass the gateway
welcome screen and to windows. Its loaded on the computer. Thanks

Check the bios
and be sure the HD is actually listed in the boot order menu.
