Operating System Error/PLEASE HELP

I recently had to do a 'manufacturer' system recovery on my laptop and
although it was successful, in the most part, I continue to receive "The
Operating System is not presently configured to run this Application" each
time I try to open Microsoft Word 2003, Publisher or Excell. All 3 worked
perfectly before the restore. I have gone as far as to uninstall the
Microsoft programs and then attempted to re-install them and after what seems
like 2-3 hours later I get automatically kicked out of the system and the
lapton shuts down. I am running Windows XP Home Edition. I would appreciate
any help anybody can give me to rectify this problem!!

Sincere Thanks,
Bryan

Depending on "when" the Systen Revovery system (CD or hidden
partition), you will have the do the Service Pack installs and all
remaining XP updates. I believe that Office 2003 may require Service
Pack 1 (SP1) in order to run. Service Pack 2 (SP2) is the latest
service pack available (from Microsoft.)

Thank you for taking the time to respond! I really appreciate your help.
Now can you point me in the direction of the service pack installs. Are they
CD's that came with the laptop or can I download from a web page? XP was the
operating system on the laptop when I purchased it and Word 2003 was already
installed. I have tried to updat/re-installing the driver too. Am I
completing going in the wrong direction?

Here is a link to the Microsoft website where you can download Windows XP
SP2.
