I wanted to use OpenNETCF.Windows.Forms.HTMLViewer
from

http://www.opennetcf.org

in my code but it only shows text and no images and there
is no way to select links.

question: anybody knows how to do images showing and
links selection (I need with keypad in MS Smartphone, not
with stylus in Pocket PC) ???

Try to use the full path. Something like that:

thanks but I need something different : I need to display
webpage (some HTML) with all images properly presented
(GIF and JPG). now this HTMLViewer control is showing
just the text. I need also to be able to navigate the
links on the page.

do you understand what I mean?

The OpenNETCF HTMLViewer doesn't support that.

Too bad! So what's the point in releasing such control
that does nothing!? (rhetoric question) I have impression
that www.opennetcf.org is BRAGGING AND SHOWING OFF
instead of doing real work. I am so dissapointed.

The other choice would be to use the commercial one (sorry for the plug) :

no need to be sorry, Alex! this control loos VERY VERY
WELL, however I have questions:

- was it tested in Smartphone2003? (I need for
Smartphone2003 OS, not for Pocket PC) could you test it
in Smartphone2003 phone or emulator and make some
screenshots as a proof?

- I am going to buy it. In worst case just for myself for
my personal purposes. However I am confused with
licensing. Do I understand it correctly that you request
more than 200 USD if number of end users would be
unlimited (I would like to make freeware for Smartphone
based on this control) ?

Umm... it's free and it comes with the source, so you can help yourself.
Otherwise, Jacek, don't start with your way of talking on THIS NG....

Yes, it was tested in SP2003 emulator. You can try it yourself and if you
should find any problems I'd really appreciate it if you let me know by
sending me a personal email (hint, hint...)

Yes, that's correct. But it's negotiable. Let's take it offline.

well, it's not working yet. I am not interested in
whether it is free or not. I need some component that
works.

OK, I will do. I have just downloaded the trial version
and I will slowly try to test embed it in my own C#
program for ms smartphone and see how it works.

OK, could you just tell me what are conditions of "trial
version"? will it stop working after 15 days or does the
trial version has no time limit but is limited in
functionality?

IF I will test it succesfully then I will contact you by
email and propose you a price for unlimited number of
users..

It's a fully functional version that doesn't expire and
which has just a nagging message.

First off, I take great offense at that. We work our asses off and give
away the fruits of our efforts for absolutely nothing. Is giving you
something for nothing is bragging or showing off?

The HTMLViewer uses the inherent htmlviewer control, which requires a
callback for handling links and image decompression. If you had done any
searching or reading about the control you would know that. To get
callbacks, you must used unmanaged code. Again, some effort on your part
would have revealed that as well. You have the source, we're not preventing
you from actually doing some work *yourself* to display your HTML.

Not nothing. You get your MVP thingy.

If your HTMLViewer can show only text, without links
following and without graphics embedding, then why don't
you call it "textviewer" instead confusing people?

Look, I thought that you provide a COMPONENT that other
programmers can use. But you are not providing component
but just some "vague version 0.002, with no
functionality".

Sorry, Chris Tacke, maybe you other components are real
McCoy but not this one.

would you mind if I would release a freeware based on a
trial version of your component? (later on if it would be
popular I would consider purchasing this component from
you)

oh! very MVP-like answer! I have seen such cr*p from
Jason Dunn, Robert Levy and some other MVPs in
microsoft.public.smartphone newsgroup. "I have no time
for this sh*t." (as said Trinity)

I just wanted to use component (not to program my own).
Nothing more, nothing less. I am not interested in
quarelling with people who pretend to release component
but in reality, when somebody tries to use it, then it is
not working!

So kiss my *ss Ginny Caughey! You think that I am scared
of you or something? If you can't help me then shut up
please. I need .NET technology to popularize MICROSOFT
SMARTPHONE and not even complacent MVPs will stop me in
this endeavor.

Times have changed. First we had our nice little beta newsgroup, then it
became public, we learned to fill the wholes, we got opennetCF, then we
needed an FAQ, then the traffic increased dramatically, and now we get
the puberal nerds. But it's normal, isn't it?

I APOLOGIZE! Yes, yes. You - all MVPs - do hard work for
nothing. I shouldn't have complained!

Sure, the HTMLViewer is not complete yet, but it's better
to have it than nothing. I apologize sincerely!

Hi,

Late commenting.

You may want to look at www.mooseworkssoftware.com The GUI control would
seem to do what you want. Download the demo and see. The full product is
inexpensive (though not free).
