Opening Thumbnails

Until I used IrfanView to rename some .TIF files, I could
open any thumbnail with Windows Image & Fax viewer,
PhotoShop Elements or FastStone Viewer. No problems.

Now, they will only open with FastStone, and using the
Properties box to change back to Windows Image &
Fax viewer, my thumbnails only show as blank squares.
What do I need to do to return to my previous, happy
situation? Using WinXP/Home/SP3.

Doug Knox has a fix that may work in your case.

Select "Utility" then "Repair Image Preview and Thumbnail View in
Windows Explorer"

Thanks, Alan, but although I got the message that
the Image preview and thumbnails had been restored,
my problem is still there. It does say on Doug's site
that this fix is not intended for XP. Guess I've just
proved it!

Thanks again, Alan, but this program didn't
work for any of the most used files, e.g. TIF,
JPG, BMP etc.

Perhaps a chkdsk run could cure this problem?
Nothing I've found on Google seems to work either!
