Opening several pages at a time in IE 6

Is there a way to do this? I don't like shells (Avant Browser, MYIE 2, etc.), so I avoid them. Moreover, I like to keep a cleanly configured pc, so I avoid installing third-party browsers (Mozilla, Opera, etc.); not that these aren't enticiing. It bothers me that they don't render pages as consistently as IE, even if IE doesn't conform to web, compliant standards. I do agree with most that IE is woefully behind the times when it comes to options (tab browsing, mouse gestures, pop-up blocking (although the latter is in the works with sp2), etc.). But what I really miss with IE, which I get from Firefox and Opera (7.5 beta 1 is really cool!), is the function I'm inquiring about. There's nothing like opening 12 or so pages of one's favorite pages instantaneously, parsing them effortless--well, it would be RELATIVELY effortlessly in IE (ALT-TAB). I wish MS would get off their laurels in this regard.
