I have PP 2007 and everytime I try to open up a PPS file, power point keeps
trying to contact the server and it keeps trying to contact the server
without connecting. doesnt matter if I do it from an e-mail attachment or if
I download it to my desktop and try to open it then. any ideas?

I dont know if its me or not but it happens with every pps file I get from
friends to look at the latest one is
(AstronautSunitaWilliamsPicsofEarth.pps). This usually the way I get them and
when I click on them I get asked if I want to open it or save it then if I
try to open it power point tells me in a small screen (Microsoft Office
PowerPoint) in the header and then in the text window it says (Contacting the
server for information) with a bar graft under it showing that it is busy
trying to connect to some server and a cancel button.

Are you sure they're sending you the file and not a *link* to the file?

Is the file an attachment to the email or is it just some clickable text in the
middle of the email?

Pretty sure its a file cause it tells me that its 2310kb and if I goto my
brothers house and use his computer it plays with no problems.

What's "it" that tells you this? Remember, we can only imagine what you're seeing
based on what you write. You gotta give us something to go on. ;-)

Are you looking at the file in your email program or have you saved it to disk?

LOL sorry for my vaugeness, the latest file I have received is "
AstronautSunitaWilliamsPicsofEarth.pps" it is 2310kb big and it doesnt
matter if I try to open it from my e-mail or if I download it to my disk it
wont play on my computer as well as the other pps files I have saved in the
past. And yet if I e-mail them to my brother and drive all the way over to
his house I can open them up and watch them his e-mail without having to
download them.

OK ... thanks. And when you save the file to your hard drive, say to your desktop, then
doubleclick it, you get this same message:

tells me in a small screen (Microsoft Office
each time?

What if you start a new presentation in PPT, save as a PPS to your desktop, then quit
PPT and doubleclick the file?
