Opening PDF files in the IE browser

I want IE to default all pdf files to open within the IE browser. Currently,
when I select a pdf file to download, it launches adobe acrobat and opens the
pdf file in the acrobat window. I need the file to be opened in the IE
browser without an acrobat window opening or having to be open.
I appreciate any help....

Did you load Acrobat's Reader and check its options? There is an option
in there for showing the PDF file within the browser (it uses a BHO -
browser helper object - to do that so you'll see it listed when using
BHO Demon or other utilities that list BHOs).

Yes, my Adobe settings are checked for "Display PDF in Browser".
Is there a way to have adobe open as a process in your task manager
automatically when you log on?

You could use BHO Demon, Spybot S&D, or Microsoft AntiSpyware to list
which BHOs have been added to check if the Acrobat Reader BHO is there.
Otherwise, uninstall and reinstall Adobe Acrobat (disable your
anti-virus software during the install). I am currently using version 7
of the Acrobat reader but do remember in versions 5 and 6 of having to
reinstall the product to get its registry items correct to have it
behave correct.
