opening pdf attachments

I have just started using ms mail, and it refuses to open any pdf
attachemtns. I have done everything the "help" section suggests, including
removing and reloading my adobe 9 reader, with no effect. I get a bos that
says "no association for this type of attachment" but the acssocaitons list
in the control apnel says my associations are all OK and adobe 9 should be
the correct reader. All other types of attachment open fine. What is wrong?
