Opening outlook

When I first open Outlook, no problem. If I close it and want to open it
again, oftentimes it just doesn't open. The hourglass is there for a few
seconds and then goes away. When I shut down the computer, I get an "End
Task" window, and when I click on End Task Now, suddenly there appears the
Outlook window, completely open, and then it quickly closes as the computer
shuts down. In other words, somehow Outlook has been open, but I never see it
on screen. It's as if it won't open, but it must have opened as a "ghost"
because it needs to then be closed when the computer is shutting down. Can
you tell me what is causing this to happen? I need to shift between my
personal e-mail and my business e-mail, so I need to shut Outlook down and
reopen it a lot, and this is maddening to have it stop opening. Thank you
very much.

Do you maybe just minimize it? Then it would still be visible in the
Systray, beside the clock.

It's also possible that an Addin prevents Outlook from closing. You might
check that by disabling all of the installed Addins.
