opening new window

i have xp home ed sp2, when ever i click on a new folder ie; from "my
computer" to "c: drive", to program files, for example, windows opens a new
window each time. this goes for my documents, my pictures, downloads. ALL
FOLDERS. it used to open the "new location" in the existing window. I want it
to do this again,
please help
