Opening multiple presentations in multiple windows ?

When I open multiple presentations they open in the same window - this is a
pain when working with two monitors and two presentations. What I want ppt to
do is open a new presentation in a new window - much easier to then go full
screen on two monitors to work on a new presentation from bits of other ones.

The default behaviour that I have for Word is like this, but not for
powerpoint - any ideas would be gratefully received. I've searched both
microsoft help and the faq's with no joy.

Thanks,

John.

If you want to display 2 (or more) presentations in the edit panes, then
open all of the presentations. Now select Windows => Arrange All. The
presentations will opened in windows within the edit pane (which you can
stretch across both monitors).

Not intuitive, but it works.

PowerPoint is a single instance application. What you can do with dual
monitors, if you are using the "extended desktop", is to stretch your PowerPoint
window to fit both monitors. Now open two presentation files . Then go to
Window on the toolbar and click on Arrange All and you can work on both of them,
side by side. You may need to size them the way you like.

I have tried the stretch across both monitors and then re-arrange - but it is
a pain because when you full size one of the presentations then it takes the
whole screen across both monitors, and also you end up with only one set of
tool bars.

And even more mysterious a co-worker doesn't get this behaviour - each
presentation opens in a new window (WinXP/PPT2003). So I know it can be done
!!

But thank you for taking the time to respond.

Regards,

John.

Check with your co-worker. I suspect he/she has two different versions of
PowerPoint installed on their system.
If you have PowerPoint 2002 (and/or 97 and/or 2000) and 2003, as I do, they can
each be open at the same time.
