Dear (super) users,

I have just bought a new license for Access (ms office pro), installed
it on a new PC witj windows XP - both OS and office-ware have been
completely updated.

When double clicking an access icon the application do not start? When
opening MS access and from there opening the specified file - there's
no problem.

I am the administrator of this PC.

All help is welcome - Happy new year

Hi Wayne

Thanks for your response.
I's the actual database (a shortcut) that will not open when
doubleclicking. I have no problem opening MS access from a shortcut
(however, this does not open the specific database).

So currently, I open MS access and from this active application I
choose the database in question. I just believe that it should be
possible to doubleclick a shortcut linking to the database file and
open this file in MS access.

Sorry for the very long reply -
Kristian

Hi Wayne -

Thanks for your advice - but it doesn't help as I cannot open the
database file in access upon doubleclicking the shortcut:
Z:\DATABASES\Database_name.mdb.

I have installed another Office Pro license on another PC - and it
works on this PC. I am no IT expert but not the opposite either.

Any thoughts or ideas are still welcome.

Dear Douglas,

The shortcut is generated from the Z drive - then moved to Desktop. In
other words, the Z drive is mapped correctly.

I have a "hunch" that a re-install of Windows will solve the problem -
but other than that I have run out of ideas.

Comments and suggestions still most welcome.
