opening DOC X files with office 2000?

How can I open DOCX files with office 2000. I upgraded word 2000 with the
sr-3 upgrade as directed, but no luck. Any help anyone?

1. You can have the file's creator save that file as a Word 2000-2003 file.

2. You can try downloading the converter from
http://www.microsoft.com/office/preview/beta/converter.mspx. Please note
that the site says that the converter is licensed only for testing and not
suitable for live production environments.

If this work is important, I would strongly recommend the first option.

Thanks for this. I have found this information very useful this morning
opening a .docx file for someone in the office. Keep up the good work!

Note for Microsoft: Please make this solution more readily available as it
is probabily going to become more of an issue as more people switch to using
Office 2007 whilst the rest of us (at least in a corporate environment) are
stuck with previous versions of office.
