Opening, Closing , & Printing Word 2000 problems

In May, I purchased a Dell Dimension 8250 computer Windows
XP and installed a new MS Works Suite 2003. The Word 2002
program has had different problems when opening or closing
a file and printing:
1. Sometimes when opening a file, I get a dialogue box that
says the document is locked for editing and asks if I want
to open it as a Read-Only file. It never was locked.
2. Sometimes even if I simply open a document and make no
changes then go to close, I get:
Do you want to save the changes to this document?
3. Often when I want to close a typed document, it
disappears but a blank sheet then appears which I have to
click its X, then the document is saved.
4. When I first attempt to print, I get the following
notice and cannot print: "Runtime Error. Abnormal
Termination." Then I have to try printing 2- 3 times
before the notice does not appear and it prints.

If you are using Word freestanding (not opening it from the Works Task
Launcher), you will save yourself a boatload of problems by uninstalling the
Microsoft Works Suite Add-in for Word (using Control Panel | Add/Remove
Programs). It may very well be the cause of the problems you are
experiencing.

Suzanne,

Under the Control Panel in Add or Remove, for MS I only
have the following options:
NET Framework (English)
Encarta
Money 2003
Picture It!
Plus
Streets and Trips
Word 2002
Works 2003 Setup Launcher
Works 7.0
