OpenGL, Nvidia and Vista

Greetings,

I just tried my first game post Vista install. It's an older game that I've
been playing again recently on my former XP box (Star Trek Elite Force II).
Because it's an older game it fortunately shows us what it is doing at
startup so I see everything that failed:

execing global/game.cfg

couldn't exec global/menu.cfg

This led me to once again do what I did right after the Vista install which
was to grab the latest drivers from nVidia. I have the nVidia Geforce4 Ti
4200. When I try to install either their Vista driver or latest XP driver I
get the following errorr messages.

First:

Setup could not find any hardware which supports these drivers.
Installation will now terminate.

then:

Setup detected that the operating system in use is not Windows Vista. This
setup program and it's associated drivers are intended for use only on
Windows Vista. Installation will now terminate.

Any suggestions please? I'm going over to the nVidia site now to see if
they have any too.

Thank you.

Did you leave an existing copy of xp on the pc. Perhaps that is why you cant
install the vista drivers. If you have a windows.old folder on your hd that
could be the problem.

Thanks for the thought and yes, I do indeed have windows.old but since this
is just a folder for reference, not an installed and operating system I
sincerely doubt it's the cause. I think it is more likely to be the fact
that nVidia haven't yet made a driver available for the older cards under
Vista.

I think I might try having a look at the post install nVidia folder to see
if I can make the changes their guide suggests when they talk about unzipping
the driver (which you can't since it's an exe).

In any case today I ordered a new card for my older AGP slot :

Yes it's not the best and certainly isn't PCIe but from all the reviews I've
read seems fantastic for an AGP. :) I'm hoping that this will give me the
graphics boost I need for Vista, etc.
