Open with ...

Hi. I've a problem when right-clicking on a file, and choosing "Open
with", then "Choose program". When I try to add the program
"gvim.exe" to the list, it won't appear. I can't find anyway of
adding this program. I've done it with GVim before (although it was a
previous version of GVim). What is it about a program that could
cause this? Could it be the registry getting confused? Is there
something I can delete in the registry to reset it?

Thanks for any help with this,
Dan.

If you're doing what Bob is suggesting and it still doesn't work, we
would need to know the file type you're trying to set the program to
open with.
There are a number of 'Open With' registry keys. Don't attempt to
change anything without backing up first.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
\FileExts
Find the extension you wish to edit and click on the "+" sign to
expand OpenWithList

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.xxx\OpenWithList
where xxx is the file extension.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\<filetype>\
But ... you probably don't want to mess with these, as they affect
many associations.
