open picture fullscreen ??

Is there any freeware which i can use to associate my jpeg's with to open
full screen and that i can navigate with using up/down keys (or pg up/pg dn
keys) ?

Just want to be able to click on a jpeg and for it to open up full screen.
Windows XP "in-built" viewer does not let me open up full screen.

I already have ACDSee 6, but, for some reason, it takes pictures about 10+
seconds to open up every time !!. I'm not sure if it is just ACDSee eating
up a lot of resources (probably !).

Kind Regards,
Andrew

FuturixImager will do exactly what you want to do.
http://www.fxfp.com/imager/

Although the website say "Runs on WinXP / 2000 / 2003", it works great with
Win98.

Thanks, that's a pretty good program, but i cannot get it to open the
picture up in full screen automatically when i click on a jpeg. I have to
click on the jpeg then double click on the image each time i start the
program to get to full screen. I know this sounds lazy of me, but it would
be great if this was possible.

Many Thanks
Andrew

Open FuturixImager. Click on "Tools", then "Options", then "File Formats".
Now click on "Start in Full Screen Mode". After that, you should be able
to double click on any jpeg file and it should open in full screen. Then
you should also be able to browse thru the rest of the images in that folder
using the arrow keys.

Here's something else you might be interested in:

Xentient Thumbnails --> http://www.xentient.com/products/thumbnails/

<Quote>
"Xentient Thumbnails is a Free utility for replacing the generic icons of
image files with thumbnail icons of the actual image."

"These thumbnail icons are much easier to recognize and they work everywhere
icons are displayed, including on the Desktop, in Open and Save dialogs, and
in Windows Explorer. "

I like to keep things simple and I don't care for most of those bloated
photo organizer programs. Instead, I just store my digital photos in
folders by date. When I'm looking for a photo, I just open the folders in
explorer and then can quickly determine which file is the photo I'm looking
for by it's icon. Then just simply double-click the icon and use
FuturixImager to view it full-screen.

Have you tried www.faststone.com ? I have been playing with the
viewer/imager tool for some time now, and it opens images in full
screen. The way it manages menus is also nice, previews in top of
screen as you move the mouse over, photo editing too on the left and
other stuff on bottom and right sections. And the eaqsy to use red-eye
remover.

Yes, it does. And it is very good.
I was just in the process of upgrading Irfanview, because it has
started to crash the computer for me. Now I will try using
FuturixImager for a while.

It has a very nice and clean install, I copied the addon plugins to the
same folder, and they were installed already when I started the
program.

Thanks K3 ! - That Thumbnails program is great !! - it's one of those
utilities you don't realise you need until you find it and wondered why you
never had it before !!!! - it is a tiny bit slower, but that's expected. I'm
still gonna stick with it as it's a great help !

Nice one K3 !!!

Andy

Actually, seeing that thumbnails program is so useful it makes me wonder if
there is any freeware out there which will change the default WinXP
thumbnail size to a user defined setting, maybe bigger picture thumbnails,
or smaller. I know you can do this by editing the registry, but is there a
freeware program which does the same thing ??

Andy

Actually, it was "cmdrdata" that recommended Fastsone Image Viewer.

I agree that Faststone Image Viewer is one of the best image viewers
available (including shareware and commercial software).
