Open outlook desktop shortcut in existing window

I have a shortcut to outlook on my desktop. When I click on the shortcut, it
opens a new version of Outlook. If I already have Outlook open, then I have
two different versions open at the same time.

When I click the shortcut, I want it to just maximize the version that is
already open. Simlar to the "Reuse existing browser window option in
Internet Explorer"

You will always get a new instance of Outlook if you click a desktop
shortcut. Ditto for any program's shortcut. You should add a shortcut to your
quick launch toolbar instead. When you reclick that shortcut, it brings up
the same Outlook window. Also if you have an Outlook icon on the right in the
notification section, you can click on that to maximize OL.
