Open hyperlink in new window

I've created a Powerpoint file (1 page) to serve as an index page with
hyperlinks to other documents (PDF files and web site URLs). I then created a
PDF document from the PowerPoint file that I want to distribute to provide an
index of documents on a CD.

Anyway, when inserting hyperlinks, I did not see any option to open
hyperlinked documents in a new window. This may be problem I need to resolve
in Acrobat, but hyperlinked documents in my PDF document open in the same
window as the original PDF index page (makes it difficult for users to return
back to index). I would like them to open in a new window but don't see any
action option in either PowerPoint or Acrobat to open linked documents in a
new window, like you would be able to do with HTML documents.

Would appreciate any help or tips in finding a way to have
Powerpoint/Acrobat to do what I want it to. :) Thanks,

Rick

So that we're clear on the problem: you end up with a PDF (made from your PPT)
that has links to other PDFs and you want the links to open the linked files in
a new Acrobat window?

If so, it's an Acrobat issue. The setting is buried in different menus/dialogs
depending on the version, but in Acrobat 6, you use Edit, Preferences, click
General in the list on left, remove the check next to "Open cross-document links
in same window".

I don't know whether there's any way of overriding the user's setting (and
perhaps there shouldn't be, as in the end, it's a user preference).
