Open Documents locking template

All,

I'm having an issue where, when I open a document that is
based on a template, the original template is locking and
can only be opened as read only. This does not happen for
other templates/documents. Any insight into why this may
be occuring would be greatly appreciated.

Hi John

You don't give us a lot to got on, but it sounds as though you might
actually be opening the 'template', rather than creating a new document
based upon it.

If that doesn't provide a clue/solution, post back with version of Word, how
you are opening the documents, what you are doing when you get the read-only
message, and other details of the scenario and set up.

It could also mean that a *document* has been saved in the *templates*
folder as a document. This will not behave quite the same way as a template.
If that's the case, open it and save it as a template.

I have re-tested and this doesn't seem to be the problem after all. I think
my problem earlier was an orphaned temporary file that was locking the
'document' in the temp folder. Sorry for the duff steer :-(
