open a shared calendar missing option

M

Marco

Good morning

I have Office 2007 and for some reason I do not see the "Open a shared
calendar" in the navigation pane and I need to have this option for may daily
work

N

Nikki Peterson

You need to select the CALENDAR view in the Navigation
Pane. You are probably looking at the MAIL view or
FOLDER view.

Nikki Peterson

N

nbsupport

We have the same problem. Open A Shared Calendar is missing. I know exactly
where it should be and it is not there. This looks like a bug to me. Is
there a fix?

N

Nikki Peterson

Do you see anything above the Navigation Pane Buttons?
(ie: How to Share Calendars, etc)
Describe what you see in the Navigation Pane.
(ie: My Calendars, Other Calendars, etc)

Nikki

N

nbsupport

I am in the Calendar view and the navigation pane on the left side shows
My Calendars
Peoples Calendars
(this has one shared calendar listed that was picked up during the upgrade)
Then in the white panel underneath is the following listed in blue.
How to Share Calendars
Search Online Calendars
Send a Calendar via Email
Publish My Calendar
(etc)

The 'Open a Shared Calendar' should show up below 'How to Share Calendars'
and it is not there. We use shared calendars extensively with Exchange
Server and Outlook 2003 with no problems (over 200 users) I have Outlook
2007 on 4 users and this is the 2nd bug we have seen.

G

groovy63

We, my boss and I, are having the same problem.
Also, we do not seem to have the DELEGATE tab in the options menu.
Any help would be appreciated.

N

Nikki Peterson

The Delegates tab is only available to folks that use the Exchange
Server as their mail server.

Nikki

J

Joe

Was there ever a resolution to this issue? Yes; I know what a navigation pane
is, and Yes; I know how to add a person's calendar. However when I was given
Office 2007 the calendars I had pulled off of exchange server are there but
have no data attached. The help screenshot does not match the options in my
pane.

D

Diane Poremsky [MVP]

When you say 'pulled off exchange', what do you mean? If your links in the
pane don't match help, its probably because you aren't configured to use
Exchange.

Why do I need to use Exchange as my default delivery location? I download
all of my mail to a PST file, and I am able to open my Exchange calendar with
no problems. Why shouldn't I be able to open a Shared Calendar on Exchange?
I don't see why the delivery location should affect whether or not I can open
a Shared Calendar.

Because shared calendars only work with Exchange as the default delivery
location and store, not personal folders.

If Exchange is your default delivery location, all of the options using
Exchange are available, including opening shared calendars.

Personal folders files are just that, personal and not shareable.

You can only share Exchange calendars, so its only present when exchange is

Diane,
I know this is a real old blog, but I?ve just looked at a user with the same issue and he is seeing other share calendars and he is unable to see the "open a shared calendar" link. I am going to verify his email delivery location even though at glance it appeared to be configured to deliver to Exchange mailbox.

Also, what type of email account? You can only share with Exchange server
accounts. Others need to publish to office online or a webdav server (if
