Only see 1 .WAV or .PDF attachment then restarts

Vista Mail (6.0.6000.16386 (Vista_rtm.061101-2005)) will only let me look at
one attachment, then it says 'has encountered an error' and restarts, then I
can look at one more, then on next attachment restarts, etc etc etc. It
happens if the attachments are in the same message or in different messages.
I have confirmed that it does this with .wav and .pdf files, so I assume it
will behave the same with other attachments...
Any suggestions or repairs??

Let me guess, you are running Norton antivirus.
That is a known issue caused by a recent update to Norton antivirus.
There may be a newer update that corrects the problem, so
first try updating Norton. If no joy, uninstall and follow up with their
debris removal tool:

I went online with Norton Tech Support, they uninstalled then reinstalled
norton Internet Security 2009 which fixed the issue. Now running 16.0.0.125.
