Only gettting limited colors

I have an HP5550 which I am happy with. I have noticed this before
never thought to solve the following issue.

I have made some boxes in Word 97 and filled them with different
colors. Some have light blues and others the classic deep "electric
blue" (don't know how describe them any better). Anyway, they are very
different yet they print out exactly the same.

It may not be the printer at all and may be a Word or Windows thing. I
just don't know.

Any suggestions on how to get more precise and varied colors ? Thx,

I've just printed some blue text of 4 shades and 4 filled boxes of the same
4 shades on my 5550 using Word 2000 and I get 4 definitely different shades
on the paper. I can't think what your problem may be, but have you got the
latest drivers?
