Only 3GB shows?

I am sure that this has been discussed before, but I
can't find the information on it again. I have installed
4GB of RAM in my XP Pro box, but it only shows 3GB
installed in the System information. What was the cause
of this? Thanks in advance.

I think you may need to place a start-up option on the booting line for
Windows XP in boot.ini.

Edit boot.ini to add /3GB at the end of the line starting windows. (After

Check the motherboard manual. Few MBs support over 3 Gig. Some allow more,
but if you read the fine print they do not actually use it, or use it only
for special purposes.
