One problem client

J

JM

Windows Server 2003 AD with about 15 clients, all XP Pro. All users can log
onto the domain except one. The user can log onto the computer locally, and
all network resources are available. However, he cannot log on to the
domain option at the logon screen, either using his username and password,
or the network adminstrator username and password. The user has been
deleted and recreated in AD Users and Groups and the client machine is
pointed at the DNS server. It appears to be set up just like the
functioning machines, but evidently something is missing or incorrect.

Please advise.

I would try the following:

-take it out of the domain, reboot, then put it back in
-check for any local firewalls and disable them
-check event logs on the client and on the DC

I had the same problem (1 out of 20) but it turned out 1 PC had multiple DNS
server listings under Network Connections\Properties\Advanced\DNS tab.
Choose "append primary and connection specific DNS suffixes".
