"One or more pages in this file cannot be viewed in Microsoft Document Imaging."

I am using the Microsoft Fax on Windows XP Home to
send/receive faxes. I am able to send and receive faxes most of the time,
but intermittently the fax is received
successfully but the tif file is not viewable. In the
Microsoft Office Document Imaging application I get the
following error: "One or more pages in this file cannot be
viewed in Microsoft Document Imaging."

I've played with the buffer size and setting it to a small size seems to
help, but not eradicate this problem. Could it be a line issue? Thoughts?
