When installing some software from a CD the installation
fails. I've tried the incompatability repair for RPC stub
but this has not worked. Checked and repaired registry, no
luck.
I have noticed that I am missing a DLL file - OLDPRO32.DLL
If I could download this I think it my solve my problem ?
How can I get/ download a copy of this file ? Any other
suggestions on a fix ?
Many thanks for any help with this matter.

Error messages I've encountered and tried to resolve are
0x80040702
for this i used msrepair.exe file
then I had
0x80040707
couldn't find an answer for this.
Then
0x80040801
Maybe related to admin rights or permissions regarding
TEMP file. I have write access to TEMP file.
All I get now when I try to install is ABORT / RETRY /
IGNORE
Crashes out with no error message.

We'll be needing all of the puzzle parts in order to have a clue here.

We need to know what leads you to the conclusion that this file is missing.
Any error messages you receive and possibly what you're doing when you
receive them. Also check Event Viewer and Device Manager for errors and or
non-starting devices.

I am installing software from a CD. Installsheild wizard
is the installation programme.
The wizard runs as far as the first option, which is do I
want to create a shortcut for the program on my desktop.
Selecting 'Yes' or 'No' has the same effect.
The installation program crashes - ABORT/RETRY/IGNORE.
RETRY and IGNORE do nothing.
ABORT kicks you out of the installation and back to the
menu screen.

You'll probably want to be logged on to the machine as local administrator
to run any installs. You didn't mention what you're trying to install but it
appears to be office or possible word. For those issues I would ask them in
office.setup. I don't see any reference to the DLL you mention and as far as
I know it isn't part of the operating system and or office.

I have tried you suggection to be logged on as
administrator.
Unfortunately it hasn't worked.
Error occurred whilst launching set up (0x80040702)
so I ran the repair for this (incompatible version of RPC
stub) this repair refers to DLL files and version
compatability. Software sharing these files must have
compatible versions as you probaley know.
When I run install software logged on as administrator it
behaves like before:
Installshield runs, it asks if I want to create a shortcut
on the desktop, answering yes or no gives the same result.
The installation crashes - ABORT/RETRY/IGNORE.
The software I'm trying to install is called DO$H cashbook
a financial accounting package.
'For those issues I would ask them in office.setup.'
Ask who ? Do you mean the software provider ?
Can you give clarity on this ?

<snip>
* Office.Setup in the case of Office or Word applications (those that Event
Viewer was pointing you towards). In this case definitely get in touch with
the application vendor.
