Older network cards reappear ??

I've replaced a network card in my server and after a week or so had to
restart the machine to add another drive. The current network card keeps
showing up as adapter and connection #3 even though there is only one card
currently in the machine. I had a 10/100, then a gigabit card, and now a
different gigabit card, so I assume that's why it's card #3. I recall once
before I had to remove older stuff like this but can't remember how I did
it. Can anyone save me a shuffle through my ton on notes that I don't
currently have on hand and tell me how to remove the older and now removed
cards?

Thanks,

Rasputin

You can go into the Device Manger (Control Panel / System / Hardware)
and "Show hidden devices" under the View pull-down menu so that
you can delete the unwanted adapter.

About your ton of notes: How about recording them in a little notepad
file under suitable headings? Getting notepad to look for "Network
adapter" or some such topic takes a fraction of a second. Your paper
notes are stone-age technology!

Actually, that's what's on my laptop notebook and it doesn't work (I
actually do keep the common stuff in some form you approve of).
Fortunately, I found a slab of rock with some carvings on it and solved the
problem.

Thanks and have a nice day
