OL2003 hangs on receive

I have OL2003 on XP home, with Firefox, ZoneAlarm system, and MS
Antispyware. I can open and send/receive with OL no problem. When I leave OL
to do other tasks, eventually OL will hang up on the receive part of an auto
send/receive. I close and reopen OL and it will work just fine. I have not
been able to associate another task to this problem. There is no set time,
in fact auto s/r will work in background for long periods of time then hang
or it can hang in 10 minutes or so.

I searched through about 2,000 messages here and did not find htis problem

Thanks for your assistance,
Pete

Get in the habit of manually minimizing OL2003's window, rather than Alt+Tab
or clicking on another window in your taskbar. See
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=827310 for info. I think this is still a
problem even with the latest critical updates/patches (which you should
download & run anyway, note) but as I'm in the habit of clicking the
Minimize button anyway, I haven't noticed any difference lately.

That rings true to me. I do have large PST files, one is a very large
archive that I keep open so it is indexed. I'm going to close it out for
awhile and try that minimize thingie. I'll let you know if I have success as
well.

thank you,
Pete

You're welcome - hope it helps.
