if its any consolation I too am having this problem but in a corporate environment.Any laptop that has offline files configured goes offline possibly about 5-6 times a day. The servers are not over utlilised, the network is 100Mb full duplexed switched. No problems seem to exist but this still occurs. Servers are all still there as the other 400 Desktop users are fine. Only happens on XP (all levels of SP). Have raised with Microsoft to speak to somone who understands the triggers/heartbeat that offline files uses to see why this happens and if its behavior can be modified.
I will update if i get any news. Would also be interested in anyone else has this problem. I am a very experienced Architect and can asure anyone reading this that most avenues have already been explored.
