Office 97 Pro problem

Gary Rogers

I have just set up a new computer. My old system was
running Office 97 Pro under Win95c with no problems.
On the new computer I am running Win98SE. The problem I am
having is with both Word and Excel (and I suspect the other
pgms in Office 97 Pro will suffer the same fate). When I
open multiple documents in either program I can't switch
between documents by pressing Ctrl+F6. When I go into
Tools/Customise/Keyboard/All Commands/Next window it tells
me that the above shortcut is assigned. However if I click
in the window on the left, as if to assign a shortcut, and
press Ctrl+F6 nothing happens, yet if I press say, Ctrl+F7,
it puts this as the shortcut in the left window. The same
applies to any other key combo. My Question is then why
does nothing appear in the left window when I press
Ctrl+F6, and, why does this function not work at all. I
suspect a corruption when Office 97 Pro was installed. To
save an uninstall/re-install has anyone else come across
this or can someone solve this rather perplexing/annoying
problem.

Many thanks
Gary R

Not sure but you may have the WordPerfect Help keys turned on. Click
"Tools", "Options", click the "General" TAB and see if the two options for
WordPerfect help are checked. If so, uncheck them. Not sure if this is
causing those keyboard combinations to be used, but worth a try.

Thanks for that Bill. Followed up your advice,
unfortunately the 2 boxes were unchecked so it seems the
problem lies elsewhere.
