I want to assist my friend upgrade from 2000 office to 2003 office . My
friend does not have the 2000 disks. Correct me please if I am wrong on
performing a safe upgrade procedure that I want to perform please, it may be
the long way around but I just want to be safe . I am very unfamiliar with
upgrading
I assume that when I upgrade from 2000 to 2003 I would just install the 2003
disk and all contacts e-mail, settings, word documents etc. would upgrade
from 2000 to 2003 settings/format if that is the correct terminology for
upgrading?
Or to do a longer safe procedure please correct me if I am wrong
1) I will back up all 2000 office to a PST folder
2) then do the 2003 up grade. If for some reason the upgrade did not
restore all the info I would be left with is a blank installed 2003, I
can’t reinstall 2000 because of no disks , and a back up export folder full
of 2000 back up info
3) so what If I can do this to be safe, if you think I can do this,
is to back up 2000 info to a PST file and export to a folder on my desk top,
2) then install office 2003 separately (if that can be done)? SO I WOULD
HAVE BOTH 2000 AND 2003 ON MY HARD DRIVE IS THIS POSSIBLE?
3 important the 2000 pst file to 2003
4) if it takes it, then delete 2000 program
5) the reason if 2000 would not restore to 2003 I could then I could back
and restore to 2000 since I still have a copy of it on my hard drive still?
What’s your opinion ?
