Office 2000 / 2003 Explorer issue

Has anyone noticed an issue when using Office versions 2000 or 2003 after the
latest round of updates? In our firm, we are seeing the applications hang
when:

- browsing drives (local and network) to open files
- browsing drives to attach files
- browsing drives to save files

It just started happening after the latest round of automatic updates. I
haven't tried uninstalling them yet to see if it fixes the problem, I wanted
to see if anyone else has experienced it?

We use Windows XP Pro, SP2 machines on a Windows 2003 / Windows 2000 Active
Directory domain, but have no ADS or DNS issues and browsing works normally
with non-microsoft applications such as Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop.

Issue resolved. A mapped drive for a VPN connection causes this issue as
explorer attempts to connect the drive. Disconnecting the drive fixes the
hang-up.
