when connecting to windows 2003 server the files are taken directly from the
server causing lengthy delays when working on files. is there a way to work
offline and only synch when lggoing off/on?

why do offline files not remain off line when connected to vpn?

thanks.

Have you looked at the behavior options
in the client side settings (in Explorer
where you enable OFC)??

Some of what you seek is there -- behavior
on logon etc.

Because you are then online. <grin>

Not that I know of, but I've never really investigated this.

Hmmm - that shouldn't be the case (if you're using a VPN client, not a
site-link/WAN via VPN on two compatible routers/firewalls)

See http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q290523

OT - check out www.centered.com instead. I prefer it over Offline Files.

I think you will find that if the "share" is
accessible to the client then it is "online"
and will try to synchronize.

Might be (I don't use Offline Files as anyone who knows me realizes) but
I've seen the behavior described in the KB article many times...if the VPN
connection is initiated after login.
