# of Files Scanned

[C and A Bredt]

I had a 90 day trial of McAfee Virus Scan and Firewall on my new XP Dell
notebook computer.

I scanned all files and it said that it found 78,000 files

I installed Norton AntiVirus2005 and it scanned 144,000 files.

Why the difference??

Settings. For example Archive files. ZIP, CAB, CHM, HTA, etc., file are compressed with
many files inside.

Because McAfee is crap. The above is also true.

No. McAfee retail products are crap. Their corp./enterprise software is excellent.

As for the number of files, it all depends on the settings set with a given AV application.
Archive files is just one example that can alter the total number of files scanned.

McAfee was good. It just isn't true today.

Bull !

It is far from crap. I have used it for years and continue to use it and don't find falut
in it. This is far different ftrom the retail software.
