OEMPNPDRIVERS Path Q

D

Diane McCorkle

As I bang my head against the wall, I've posted this to the 2K deploy group
also to see if I can solve this,

Our new Dells are all using the new Broadcom 100/1000 NICs

I've gone as far as to get what should be the proper drivers direct from
Dell support that should be RIS capable, but no joy..

One issue of concern is that I've seen oempnpdrivers path referred to in the
following manners:

Oempnpdriverspath = "DRIVERS\NETWORK\ONBOARD"
Oempnpdriverspath = DRIVERS\NETWORK\ONBOARD
Oempnpdriverspath = "\DRIVERS\NETWORK\ONBOARD"
Oempnpdriverspath = \DRIVERS\NETWORK\ONBOARD

I need to know if that's an issue? I've pretty much tried all the
vairiables,

I'm in a "must get this running" scenario and I'm unable to get RIS to use
these new cards.

I'm even at the point of looking for paid support on this issue, does any
one have any ideas? I'm at the end of my rope

thanks!

Diane

Hello,

I'll supply you with the answer for $50.00.

Here's a snip from the entries that I use:

OemPnPDriversPath=\drivers\Nic;\drivers\Video\Matrox;\drivers\Video\Nvidia

Just email the check or something *grin*

And if all else fails, oempnpdriverspath is appended to the
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\DevicePath key. You can
append additional paths to it if you are using RIPREP or SYSPREP, if you
must.

Steve,

I'd love to send it, but you pegged my current setup thats not working,

Oempnpdriverspath = \DRIVERS\NETWORK

pasted direct from my riprep.sif's

it refers to the following directory that contains the files
\\rislab\REMINST\Setup\English\Images\X300V1.0\$OEM$\$1\DRIVERS\NETWORK

I've tried the Files Dell sent me, along with the Broadcom drivers from
their website.

The bloody head marks on the server room wall are starting to freak my boss
out however.

Hello,

what's the error that you are getting? the installation cannot find the
drivers for your nic?
You may have to play with the folder structure a little or edit the .inf
file.

The drivers that I like extract to a single folder, for example:
intel.zip extracts all the catalog files, .inf files, and drivers to
c:\intel.
I just copy all the files in c:\intel to \drivers\network and life is good.

Some drivers don't do this.
intel.zip extracts to these folders:
c:\intel
c:\intel\win2k
c:\intel\win98

That's when you have to "play".
create a similar folder structure:
\drivers\network
\drivers\network\win2k

copy all files from c:\intel and c:\intel\win2k to \drivers\network
copy all files from c:\intel\win2k to \drivers\network\win2k
