OE6 XP SP2 update question

Leo Feret

After I updated XP SP2 OE6 with KB900930, the e-mail headers show
X-MIMEOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2900.2670
X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2900.2670

However clicking on OE Help still shows 6.00.2900.2180
(xpsp_sp2_rtm040803-2158)
which apparently is system OS info, not OE6 level info.

Anyone know an easy way to know what KB######s have been applied to OE6?
Belarc is no help.

You're OE version is still 6.00.2900.2180. 6.00.2900.2670 is your current
msoe.dll version. You can see that in Help | About.

KB900930 installs msoe.dll and inetcomm.dll v6.00.2900.2670. Outlook
Express (msimn.exe) remains v6.00.2900.2180.

Your answer is accurate and clear. But two days prior to installing
KB900930, I installed KB884883 and the X-MIMEOLE and X-Mailer header
info then showed 6.00.2900.2527 . The only currently loaded module at
that release level is Microsoft (R) Address Book DLL wab32.dll .
KB884883 apparently installed only code not at the *2527 level, so the
mystery remains for me - what put *2527 in the headers that's a common
explanation for 900930 and 884883? Thanks for whatever insight you
offer.

I'm confused: Are you posting from the machine in question? (From your
headers: Newsreader: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2900.2670).

MSOE.DLL, INETCOMM.DLL, WAB32.DLL and WABIMP.DLL v6.00.2900.2527 are
installed by KB887797 (Dec-04). KB884883 (c. Apr- or May-05) does not
update these files.

Yes I am posting from the machine in question, and the facts you cite is
why I'm confused too re what the answer is.

The "OE" version listed in your headers actually points to the version of
MSOE.DLL installed, not MSIMN.EXE, Leo.

Your OE6 in WinXP SP2 is fully up-to-date.
