OE 6 to Windows Live Mail

FrankSpokane

I am running Outlook Express 6.0 on my old XP Computer, and wish to move my
Contacts and messages to my new Vista computer which has Windows Live Mail.

It is my understanding that OE 6.0 will not install on a Vista computer as
it has been replaced by Windows Live Mail.

Can someone refer me to a step by step Instruction list of how to move the
data from my Outlook Express 6.0 into Vista Windows Live Mail ?

Thanks for all replies.

Someone in either microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general or microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail
should be able to help. OE isn't related to Outlook.

Ah, let me guess, you're using the web based newsreader.

This might be useful:

Since you're also using the web based newsreader rather than outlook
express, you might want to use
http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...px?dg=microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general
to get to microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general, or http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...t.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail
(or, since you're using Outlook Express for mail, look at the steps in
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/community/columns/newsgroups101.mspx for
how to set up OE to use the microsoft newsgroup server).

In the web-based hierarchy, MS Outlook Express is a branch under the "MSN
and Internet" tree:

Outlook Express is a completely different application from MS Outlook.

In the web-based hierarchy, Windows Vista mail is a branch under the
"Windows Vista" tree:

Windows Mail, under Windows Vista, is a replacement for MS Outlook Express,
which does not run under Windows Vista. Windows Mail is a completely
different application from Windows Live Mail.

I have cross posted this to Windows Vista Mail group, where you will
probably get better assistance.

For Windows Live Mail, the correct newsgroup to use is:

microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop

We discuss mostly rhe Windows Mail program under:

microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail

Here are the instructions we offer for transferring from OE 6 to Windows
Mail:

<http://www.vista4beginners.com/Migrate-from-Outlook-Express-to-Windows-Mail>

You might want to check if they offer any useful help in transferring
from OE 6 to Windows Live Mail.
