Odd Power Problem

My system -

Athlon64 300+
Asus K8V
Radeon 9700
Creative Audigy
1Gig PC3200 DDR
40Gig Seagate Baracuda UDMA100
80Gig Maxtor UDMA133
Toshiba DVD
Samsung CDR
QTEC 550 Watt PSU (http://users.fmg.uva.nl/rstoter/550watt/)

Now I have been having some odd problems, my PC suddenly powers down out of
the blue for no apparent reason. Could it be the PSU?

My CPU never gets above 51C and the RAM is compatible.

The sudden turn-off can happen during a game or when Im just using windows,
when it happens I cannot turn the PC back on until I unplug it from the
mains. Also, Power is still getting to the motherboard as the LED on the
mobo stays on, as do the lights on my keyboard and mouse.

I know my PSU is 550W, or meant to be, but could this be the problem?

Thanks

Have you seen this ?

There was a problem with electrolytic capacitors on the K8V.
These are located around the processor socket, and have RLZ0333
printed on the plastic sleeve on the caps. Check to see if
they are bulging on top, bursted, or leaking a brown fluid
(sometimes leaving a stain after it dries).

Just another data point for you: I had a bad Radeon 9700 do this very
same exact thing to my PC. I stuck it out until the card failed as
completely as it was going to (wouldn't boot into anything but safe
mode with VGA). I replaced only the card and it's been fine ever
since (eight months now).

Cheap, "Hi-power" power supplies, use cheap parts.

Mostly they do. The Q-tec is a good PSU though.

But I think the problem is more likely to be with the Gfx card based on the
symptoms described...
