ODBC Microsoft Access Login Failed

When trying to connect an Excel Spreadsheet to a Microsoft Access database,
I get an error stating "You do not have the necessary permissions to use the
"C:\MDB\...' object. Have your system administrator or the person who
created this object establish the appropriate permissions for you."

I am the administrator and the person who created this. As a matter of
fact, I have the database opened in MS Access right now. I noticed that it
never asked me my userid or password until after this message. After
entereing my userid and password, I get the dialog box to select my
database. I click it, then get the error mesage again. I am in a loop
here.

Any advise?
