Occuring SpyWare headaches not fixed by Anti-Spyware

Mike Kelly

If anyone could answer this question regarding use of MS's
Anti-Spyware Beta version, it would be appreciated. Upon
running a quick scan (or full scan), various occurences of
spyware /adware are found and removed, but they seem to
re-appear in a day or so, e.g., the dreaded "browserware".
I thought the beta software also dealt with removal of
various registery aspects, but could it be to fully remove
such headaches as Browserware, I need to edit the registry
manually? BTW, I also use Spybot and Adaware, but they seem
less capable of detecting stuff than MS's Anti-Spyware

Thanks,
Mike.

A very good question. First of all if you currently have
Spybot installed on your system it is critical that you
run a scan each time your system boots (as long as this
problem persists.)

If the application does not detect "browserware" running
in IE you may have an instance of a script generating a
host file in your system32 folder. In such instances
Spybot should deny the parasite from loading into
memory. Ultimately stopping any host files from being
altered or changed therefore the registry should not be
affected. One suggestion would be to download the
Internet browser "godzilla" MOST spyware is incapable of
running on such a platform and therefore a single boot
deletes it entirely.

hope that helps.
