objects not visible

Objects in my Access 97 application all of a sudden are not visible. I've
been using this database for years without this problem. The data is all
there if you use forms to work with the data. Unhiding the objects doesn't
work using "Tools" "Options" "View" "Hidden Objects." Error message says
"operation invalid without a current index" when choosing an objects tab. I
also get an error message saying "look in the indexes collection of the
TableDef object to determine the valid index names." Can't get there,
either. Any suggestions??

Sounds like your database may have corrupted. Try running a compact and
repair. If that does not work, you may need to restore from backup.

That didn't work, either. I also tried creating a new database and importing
all the objects, which didn't work. Anything else I could try aside from
restoring from backup (loss of info issue there).

Is your database spit into a Front End and Back End? Is so, then you can
just restore the FE application. If not, are your tables intact (data). If
so, you can import the tables into a new database. Then restore the backup
and import all other objects (queries, forms. reports, macros, and modules)
into the database where you imported the tables.

No, my database doesn't have a front end and back end. And, yes, all the
information shows up when using the input forms to access it, but nothing
shows up in the database window (i.e., tables, queries, forms, reports, and
macros). I tried importing the tables into a new database and got the same
error message about no index. Any other ideas??

At his pint you may need a repair tool or use a repair service. There are
many options available - but most of them have a cost.

After all that, finally figured it out--thanks for the referal to the
corruptmdbs website, by the way--all that was needed was to compact the db.
Everything appears and works as it should now...duh!

You may want to consider splitting your database to better preserve your
application and data in the event of corruption.
