objects disappeared!

I found a similar thread and tried all of the suggested remedies (compact and
repair, unhide, jetcomp) and nothing has worked.

That said, this is what precluded this. I made a copy of my main database,
renamed it, then deleted the record contents. I then imported 2 excel files
into the database, joined them, and was merrily working along with no issues.
Next time I tried to open the database, looked fine, except that the objects
box doesn't appear and the toolbars are missing. I can see the file in
windows explorer.

No error messages appear when I try to open the file. The relationships are
still there, though, so I think it is running in the background somewhere.

Does anyone have an new information on what is going on? I hate to retrace
my steps, only to have it happen again.

Thanks,

Linda

Hi Linda,

By "objects box", I assume you mean the Database Window. The Database Window
is the object that includes tabs for tables, queries, forms, reports, macros,
etc. If this is what is missing, try opening your database while holding down
the shift key the entire time (don't let it up too early--wait until the DB
has opened fully). If you can now see the database window, click on Tools >
Startup... and place a check in the option that reads: Display Database
Window.
