After searching high and low for a fix to this annoying problem, I may have
finally stumbled on it in an obscure KB article in the MS knowledge base. I
can’t even remember which one, but it made a mention of HTTP 1.1 in older
than IE6 versions, and I remembered that setting in the IE options.
The problem occurred for me with nearly every click from my MSN homepage,
and rarely, if ever, occurred otherwise. I also noticed that when I did not
use a proxy server (recommended by my satellite ISP), the problem would go
away, but not using the proxy slowed down my browsing.
Anyhow, the fix that worked for me is:
Open your browser,
Go to Tools on the menu, click Internet Options,
Click the Advanced tab,
Scroll down to HTTP 1.1 Settings,
Clear the “Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections†box, if you’re using a
proxy server,
If not, clear both boxes.
If you’re unsure clear both boxes.
That worked for me. Don’t ask me why. It doesn’t seem to have any negative
side effects. I’m much happier now without the constant object moved delays.
Yes, I have all the latest WinXP and IE upgrades, spyware/virus tools, etc.
