"Object Moved to HERE" fix

After searching high and low for a fix to this annoying problem, I may have
finally stumbled on it in an obscure KB article in the MS knowledge base. I
can’t even remember which one, but it made a mention of HTTP 1.1 in older
than IE6 versions, and I remembered that setting in the IE options.

The problem occurred for me with nearly every click from my MSN homepage,
and rarely, if ever, occurred otherwise. I also noticed that when I did not
use a proxy server (recommended by my satellite ISP), the problem would go
away, but not using the proxy slowed down my browsing.

Anyhow, the fix that worked for me is:

Open your browser,
Go to Tools on the menu, click Internet Options,
Click the Advanced tab,
Scroll down to HTTP 1.1 Settings,
Clear the “Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections†box, if you’re using a
proxy server,
If not, clear both boxes.
If you’re unsure clear both boxes.

That worked for me. Don’t ask me why. It doesn’t seem to have any negative
side effects. I’m much happier now without the constant object moved delays.
Yes, I have all the latest WinXP and IE upgrades, spyware/virus tools, etc.

I have had the same annoying problems with MSN. It is definitely a
compatability issue with Norton Internet Security and MSN. After repeated
talks with Norton and MSN, the only solution for me was to uninstall NIS,
working on getting a refund now, and then installing the McAffee Antivirus
and Firewall software included FOR FREE with my MSN membership through
Verizon. Why did it take two months for these people to tell me this.
Thanks Art, i did try your tools option with the HTTP 1.1 option, but to no
avail. The only solution was to turn off NIS or uninstall it. It is strange
how the only homepage affected was MSN, even if i opened MyMSN on my IE
browser or my Netscape browser, the same annoying object moved message
constantly appears. Hope this will help some of you.

Yet another posting confirming my opinion that Norton is more trouble
than it is worth. Too much bloat loading up; too invasive and unpredictable.
I am running ZoneAlarm Security Suite version 5.5.062.004. No problemo.
ZA S S loads just 2 non Microsoft Services and one Startup item.
I am constantly dealing with people who have all kinds of ridiculous
problems thanks to Norton.
