NVIDIA Video Driver Update

A few weeks ago I tried to update my NVIDIA GeForceTi 4200 driver as part of
XP 'Windows Update' but had difficulties and used System Restore to revert
back to the previous version. Having read an item above that stated that
previous NVIDIA drivers should be uninstalled first, I uninstalled my
drivers, downloaded the new Windows XP drivers from NVIDIA and reinstalled
the new drivers successfully. The only problem that I am left with is that
when I check my 'Windows Update' status, I am still told that I still need
to update my NVIDIA drivers i.e.. 'Windows Update' cannot see that I have
in fact done the update.
I would be most grateful for any advice on how to get 'Windows Update' in
line with what I have done. Thanks - Rob

Ignore the Windows Update driver updates.
That's your best bet.

Go straight to the manufacturer and 90% of the time, you will have more
up-to-date and more feature filled drivers.

Carey,

Seriously - that isn't going to work in this case, is it? heh
There is no KB/Q number for a driver update.

You are asking for problem if you use the Windows Update for ANY driver
updates. Ignore the driver update advice . MS definitely does not have this
down right. Go to the device manufactures website for all your updates. Jym

Stay away from microsoft on the video card drivers! Go to www.guru3d and only download the drivers that are whql certified or go to Nvidia website. Also, stay away from beta drivers where possible. Use driver 53.03 or 53.06. Rules on drivers, if it ain't broken, don't fix it. Read up on what the new driver fixed 1st. If you are not having the issue, why download it unless you are looking for more performance. Also, nvidia drivers do not need to be uninstalled to get the new one, somewhat new fix for them. I game alot and stay up with the new drivers
If you uninstall the old and the new doesnt work, where do you go? Try and find old drivers (guru3d!) is like finding needles in haystacks sometimes

I only use microsoft update to pick what I need. They will load u up with hotfixes.....just check add and remove programs...wow. I stopped along time ago. Use a good firewall program and your updates are few and far between
