nvidia drivers listed under windows update?

B

bryan

this may be a silly question, but does anyone know what
the "NVIDIA Display Software released July 28th" listed in
the drivers section of windows update is exactly? i just
figured it was one of those weird little driver releases
that occasionally pops up from time to time between
nvidia's own "official" reference driver releases...
however, if this is the case, it's still showing up
under "Driver Updates" despite the fact that i'm running
the WHQL 52.16 forceware drivers (g4 ti 4400)-- and
they're dated 10/6/03. i was planning on ignoring it, but
it just strikes me as strange, so i thought i'd ask.

thanks,
bryan

Hi Bryan,

Those aren't meant for gamers. They're meant for the type
of user who seldom needs graphic performance. By the
time a driver makes it through the testing process and then
gets offered via the update site, a more current driver will
most certainly be available for video or sound updates.

I used the options at the windows update site to customise
my updates and remove those 44.03 drivers from my list. :)

thanks, jimmy. for some reason, i've never been able to
uncheck driver updates under the personalization tab...
weird. plus, since i've got a newer version, i figured it
would just automatically be removed from the list. oh,
well, we all know windows ain't perfect... otherwise, no
one would spend time here. :O
