NVIDIA Driver Update

Dave

Have just installed "Nvidia Display Software Update
Released On October 06, 2003" from Microsoft update site.
Now when I go into advanced display properties and click
on 'GeForce4 MX440 with AGP8x' tab I receive nvcpl
catostrophic failure.

Has anyone else experianced this and should I rollback to
previous driver until Microsoft sort this out?

Thanks, Dave

I am experiencing the problem described by Dave. My
answer was to go back to Nvidia 4072 drivers. I have
tried both the windows update and Nvidia website drivers.
The newer the more likely to fail, I have a GeForce 3 Ti
200 card made by MSI, sold by PNY. I have tried this in
two different MSI motherboards with the same results. The
WHQL process is broken.

Wow, I was just trying to figure out all of this too.

My screen is freaking out now. I have the Nvidia 400
on an MSI motherboard. I am also running windows 2000 pro.
So, I guess I need to get out my original motherbaord cd and put the old one
back.

I have the same graphics card gforce mx440 & I was getting
error message everytime I booted "category 102 event
id:1003". I went to nvidia's web site & downloaded latest
driver for xp & it cured my problem.

Thanks to all who replied. I too have downloaded latest
driver (52.16) from Nvidia website and all is well again.

I also no longer have crashing but...

My display is now enlarging and shrinking on its
own and it now has a flicker whenever I access
certain menus (taskbar items).

My screen size has been the same for a year and now
intermittently it will enlarge itself and streches
beyond view. Of course I tried to then use my monitor
settings to just make the horizontal size smaller
but then it would all of a sudden shrink back to original size anyway.

This is very annoying. Should I contact nvidia or what?

UNINSTALL old ones first then install new ones........................
Don't bother with the update, get them from Nvidia even tho they are the
same.
That way at least you can uninstall old ones first.
I had same problems,uninstalled old ones,installed new,no probs.

similar problem but it stopped me from getting online. Used rollback and all seems OK. It ahppened as I was downloading the latest driver from MS. MS has a problem that needs to be addressed
