NVIDIA driver update pblm

Windows Update tells me I have new driver available "NVIDIA display software
update released on July 28, 2003". I download and install, but when I
restart I get the big blue error screen tells me there was a problem with
it, the thing went into the infinite loop. (I am sorry I did not get the
exact message). I had this problem before but forgot it was related to a
previous attempt to download the driver. I managed to put my system back to
a previous setting so things are okay now. I have gone through the control
panel - system - hardware - device manager, to update drivers, signed
driver. But I do not know why the driver update, via Windows Update, throws
my system for a loop.

WindowsXP
800 x 600 in 64K Colors, NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti 200 (Microsoft Corporation) Ver.
6.13
AMD Athlon(tm) XP 1800+ 1.5 GHz

Any suggestions, thanks Bob

I would suggest that if your "old" drivers are working
O.K. you should not update to newer ones. I too have had
problems with updated drivers.

That is probably good advice for an older computer (a year or so old).
However, drivers should be updated on newer computers, if for no other
reason than to keep it as up to date as possible for as long as possible.
