Numbers importing from Excel as text

I have an inventory sheet that I've been keeping in excel and I'm trying to
import it to Access. My problem is that the part numbers are alpha/numeric
and just numeric. The alpha/numeric part numbers are coming over fine, but
my 10 digit numeric part numbers come over like this 8.70002e+009.

I've tried changing the data type to number and my alpha/numeric part
numbers get deleted, and I've tried changing it to memo and that doesn't do
anything.

Does anybody know how to fix this?

Try creating the table manually with the correct field types, including
a Text field for all part numbers whether they are numeric or
alphnumeric (the only time you need a number field is if you're planning
to do arithmetic with the values, e.g. prices).
