NTVDM and multiple monitors

Is there a way to prevent a full screen CMD session from opening across both
the primary and secondary monitors? We are updating a Windows 98
configuration where we have a full screen DOS window on our primary monitor
and a full screen window on the secondary. If we try the same setup under
Windows XP, the secondary monitor is blanked out by the CMD window.
I have tried replacement consoles, but as they depend on NTVDM, they all
fail when I switch to full screen. I have also tried emulators (Virtual PC
and Dosbox), but they do not emulate enough of the computer's hardware to use
with this DOS application.
Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks!

Try windows media,downloads,locate the "exhibitor",the software is for
2 or more monitors.

I will make sure this machine clean from malware and viruses by scanning

What type of applications you are running 16/bit or 32/bit?.

Thank you for the replies. The system that I am testing this on is a clean
install of Windows XP SP2, with nothing else installed but the device drivers
and the application that I am testing. The DOS program is a 16-bit program
written in C++, and the windows application is a 32-bit application written
in Visual C++. The programs run without error so long as I run the DOS
application in a window. It is when I try running the program in full screen
mode that the DOS application blanks out the secondary monitor with a
completely black screen. This happens whether or not the DOS program is
running, as it appears to be a function of the NTVDM program itself.

Andrew, I have tried the Exhibitor program but it doesn't seem to change
anything in the system. It appears to be a multi-screen version of Windows
Media player. Is there something that is installed with this that I should be
looking at?
